From daytime visits to overnight stays, the Ronald McDonald House Family Room in Kamloops offers a place to rest, prepare a meal, and stay nearby, just steps from your child’s bedside.
Located inside Royal Inland Hospital, the Kamloops Family Room is a warm, welcoming space where families can rest, recharge, and stay close to their child throughout the day. Working alongside our hospital partners, we help remove barriers so families can remain present, involved, and together throughout their child’s care.
From a quiet place to sit and breathe, to a hot meal, a shower, or a load of laundry, we take care of the everyday so you can focus on what matters most. No booking required, our staff and volunteers are here to welcome you, support you, and make your time at the hospital a little easier.
The Family Room is on the third floor of the Main Building.

A bright, welcoming space filled with toys and books where younger children can play, explore, and simply be kids, even in the middle of a hospital stay.
Besides the kitchen, our dining area has large tables where families can sit together, share a meal, and find a moment of connection over food and warmth.
A full kitchen and community pantry stocked with essentials. Families are welcome to keep groceries in the shared fridge, bake, and make themselves at home.
A private shower stocked with towels and basic toiletries, so families can freshen up and feel a little more like themselves without leaving the hospital.
Laundry machines with complimentary detergent are available for families, one less thing to think about during an already demanding time.
One overnight sleep room gives families a place to rest through the night, just steps from their child’s bedside. Allocated based on medical need, sleeping rooms cannot be booked in advance, and there is no charge to use them. Speak with your social worker to request a referral.
These programs create a home away from home where families can focus on healing, without the added stress and time demands of daily responsibilities.

The Kamloops Family Room is open to families with a child under 19 receiving care at Royal Inland Hospital. Located inside the hospital, it offers a place to stay close, rest, and recharge throughout the day.
The Family Room is a shared space, and we ask all families to help keep it welcoming and comfortable for everyone who needs it.
No referral is required to access the Family Room during the day. Simply stop by during open hours and our staff and volunteers will be there to welcome you.
To access the sleep room, please speak with a social worker in your hospital unit. Priority is given to families with the most critical needs, including those with a child in the NICU or Pediatrics. Access is based on availability.
