Zoe Thompson ran the 2026 Vancouver Marathon in support of Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon, a cause that has become deeply important to her since moving to Canada from the United Kingdom last year.
While she had heard of Ronald McDonald House before, it was not until she began working with the organization that she fully understood its impact on families navigating some of the most difficult moments in their lives.
Being in the House each day and meeting families firsthand has shown her the real need for support. Families arrive carrying uncertainty, fear, and exhaustion, and she has seen how Ronald McDonald House provides comfort, stability, and a sense of home when it is needed most. She recognizes that it is difficult to fully understand what families experience during a child’s medical journey without seeing it up close.
Running the Vancouver Marathon was her way of giving back, raising awareness, and helping more families stay close to the care their child needs. She also wanted to share this mission with friends and family in the United Kingdom, as Ronald McDonald House is often not fully understood until someone needs it directly.
With support from her community, Zoe has raised nearly 1,500 dollars, and she is grateful for everyone who contributed to helping families across BC & Yukon.
