“Thank you to all the awesome volunteers who come into RMH BC and make life better for families struggling with our sick kids❤.What a break when a meal is served, you can have a massage after a long day or just see your smiles. THANKS❤ ?”
Your Impact
“I remember the first time I was at the house without my husband. I was alone with both my boys, 7 and 9. I was exhausted and hadn’t slept in who knows how long.
A volunteer came over to me and told me she would play with my boys in the Lego lounge or arts and crafts room while I rested on the couch. Such a simple act that meant so much to a tired, exhausted, stressed mama!”
appreciated
“We so appreciated the volunteers during our stay. I always say that was one of the things that lifted me up and carried me the most. When you are suspended in a dark and fragile place with your child’s health, nothing seems right in the world but to know there are amazing humans out there that give voluntarily of their time to support families going through unimaginable journeys, well that’s just the most beautiful thing in the world. It restores your faith in life and it’s beauty. I’ve been so inspired by this act of generosity and love that I wanted to be just like them. I now volunteer at my local hospice and on our Palliative Care Unit. Thank you for lifting up my family and thank you for inspiring me to pay it forward. So much love in my heart for the volunteers ❤️”
Family Room
“Walking into the family Room was like being in the dark, in the rain, and somebody comes and covers you with a nice warm blanket. Our family is so inspired by the volunteers who give their time to make it feel like home!”
Family Meal Program
“The Family Meal Program allows us to spend as much time with our daughter in the NICU as possible and not worry about cooking and we can sit down and share a meal with our other children.”
“The Family Meal Program saves us money and we enjoy the healthy choices and building community at the House.”
a sense of relief
“To this day, arriving at Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon provides us with a sense of relief. We feel as if we have arrived home. Our kids are free to play and explore, there are familiar faces who greet us with a smile, and quite often dinner is already in the oven, most significantly, when we reflect on our trips to Vancouver with Karsten, it isn’t the doctor appointments that he immediately recalls. It is memories of koi fish, giant toy rooms, bongos and pianos. Of balloons, unicorns and giant slides. Of submarine fish tanks, Christmas trees and all the stuff that dreams are made of!”
Thank you to every volunteer
“Every dollar raised for RMH helps families like ours feel safe and loved while we go through some of the hardest times we will ever face. Thank you to every volunteer who takes the time out to attend fundraising events. You are giving us more than a place to stay, more than a bed and a meal – you are giving us a place to call home, a shoulder to cry on, a friend to talk to. You are giving us hope for a brighter future, and for that we are forever grateful.”
