$150 Raised
Meet Benji – 5 years old, full of heart, and already making a big impact.
Inspired by his grandparents longtime Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon volunteers, Benji started his own bottle drive to help families staying at the House. He collected recyclables, cashed them in, and donated half – an incredible $150 – to Ronald McDonald House. And he’s not done yet! He is already back out collecting more bottles to help even more families.
For Benji’s grandparents, Jennifer and Bob Gardner, supporting Ronald McDonald House is something they are delighted to share with their whole family. They are longtime volunteers and monthly donors, and in their regular shifts at the House, they see, up close, the importance of having a place where families can stay together, find support, and feel a sense of normalcy during incredibly difficult times.
For Bob, what stands out most is the connection he sees between families. “You can talk about support,” he reflects, “but until you see families connecting with each other, sharing experiences and understanding what the other is going through, you don’t fully grasp it.”
For Jennifer, it’s the children, their curiosity, their resilience, and their desire to simply be kids. “When the little ones come up and just want to help or be part of something, that’s what stays with me,” she says. “Those moments are so special.”
