At Ronald McDonald House, so many small moments happen behind the scenes to give families a comforting place to stay. Moments like picking a gift from the Celebration Cupboard, coming home to see your door decorated for your child’s birthday, or grabbing a snack on the way to the hospital – all of these moments add up to make families feel welcomed and supported during the most stressful times. And when such moments happen, it’s often the work of our Wednesday Project Crew!
Every Wednesday for the past 2 ½ years, Marianne, Loretta, Vivian, Winnie, and Harper have been taking time away from work and studies to make everyday moments possible for families at Ronald McDonald House.
“It’s nice to be able to do these little things for the families that they just simply may not have the time or energy to do, but it makes a really big difference for them.” says Marianne.
Vivian agrees, “At first I thought Ronald McDonald House was just a place to stay, kind of like a hotel room. But it’s so much more than that. It’s the kitchens that they can cook food in. It’s all of the snacks that get provided, all of these events that we prepare for, all of the goodie bags that we make, all of the donations that arrive.” Loretta adds, “And honouring so many different holidays and cultures. I love that it’s very inclusive of everybody.”
“It’s cool to see how much work goes into everything, but also know that I’m a part of it,” says Harper.
