Healing Through Creativity
This January, we’re celebrating Art Therapy Month. One of our core wellness programs, guided by a certified Art Therapist, patients, siblings, and caregivers are invited to explore creativity at their own pace through painting, collaging, journaling, and working with a variety of materials.
In these moments, families are offered a gentle way to process what words often can’t. Anxiety softens, confidence grows, connection returns, and families experience a sense of normalcy during an otherwise overwhelming time. Reminding us that healing can happen in many forms, not just medical ones.

Expanding Care, Close to Families
Our commitment to families continues to grow stronger than ever with the opening of two new Family Rooms in Kamloops and Prince George, bringing comfort and support closer to families when they need it most.
Located inside hospitals, Ronald McDonald Family Rooms provide families with a welcoming place to rest, recharge, and stay close to their child during treatment, offering quiet spaces, refreshments, and moments of relief just steps away from care.
These new locations mean more families can access the support, compassion, and sense of belonging they find at Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon, without having to travel far from home.
How your donation dollars help
Why do families need your help?
When a child is seriously ill, the specialization required for their major medical procedure may only be available far from home. Treatment for illnesses such as leukemia, brain tumours or cystic fibrosis requires lengthy out-of-town hospitalization.
Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon provides accommodation for these families, so they can be close to their seriously ill children undergoing treatment. The House is a place of comfort, healing, and a home away from home for kids and families from all across BC and Yukon—like Prince George, Kamloops, Whitehorse and Victoria. But the cost to accommodate over 2000 families per year is expensive and isn’t possible without the generosity of people like you.

What stops families from being together?
What stops families from being together?
When the unthinkable happens and a family is uprooted for their child’s critical medical treatment, there are many barriers they must overcome to stay together. Hotel stays are expensive, siblings need to be cared for, and staying in the hospital long term is unsustainable. That’s where the House comes in—providing accommodation, comfort, compassion, and a sense of community to these families in need.
But caring for so many families is expensive and isn’t possible without the generosity of people just like you.
